Bible Reading Plan for 2010

How do you spend your regular Quiet Time? Do you have a standard practice of Bible reading, devotionals, journaling, and/or prayer?  Do you have a “plan” that you have been using successfully?

Are you – like me – looking for a fresh “plan” – or at least a fresh sense of direction when it comes to having your daily Quiet Time with the Lord?

When I schedule my alarm to get up at 5:30 in the morning – it seems that inevitably, one or both girls begin waking up at 5:15 a.m.

When I schedule my quiet time for 8:30 p.m. at night – that’s when one or both girls are dealing with bad dreams, wild imaginations or “Mommy, I’m thirsty.”  =)

But sometimes, I want a “plan” so that when I find myself – all of a sudden and unexpectedly – facing an hour of time for which I do not have to be responsible for (or to) anyone else – I want a PLAN so I can jump right into my Quiet Time with the Lord.  Having a plan means that when some unexpected free time arises, I CAN jump right into my Quiet Time with the Lord!

  • Do I want to read the entire Bible in one year?  Then this plan might work.
  • Do I want to read the English Standard Bible from Genesis through Revelation?  This plan would work well.
  • Do I want to read the Amplified version in one year – but in chronological order?  This plan would help me accomplish that.

Can you relate?

Maybe you don’t know what format you would like or even if you want to read the entire Bible in one year – these options at Blue Letter Bible might help you decide.

Maybe you just want to study Proverbs by reading one entire chapter each day for the month of January.  What a great way to start a new year – with a study on the Book of Wisdom!!!  And rereading it a few times during the year couldn’t hurt!!!

Maybe you just want a Bible reading record to help track the Scriptures you read on a daily basis or as you read them.

Whatever format you choose – whatever manner you choose to study – the important thing is to COMMIT to reading the Scripture every day.  Commit to it the way you commit to eating your meals or taking your shower or putting gas in your car when it’s on empty.

Study and be eager and do your utmost to present yourself to God approved (tested by trial), a workman who has no cause to be ashamed, correctly analyzing and accurately dividing [rightly handling and skillfully teaching] the Word of Truth. 2 Timothy 2:15 (Amp)

Hi there! Thanks for stopping by my blog and following along! I have never seen a blog layout like yours…it’s really great. I appreciate the content too! I’m following you now. Happy New Year!

I go to an online version of Oswald Chamber’s My Utmost For His Highest, read that and then link to the Bible in One Year that is at the bottom of the page. I have it bookmarked in my bar so that when I’m ready I can just click and go!

  3. I thought i was the only one whose children managed to get up “early” any time I set some time aside with the Lord! Thanks for posting this. I’m going to check out some of the plans you posted. :)
