Okay – THIS has been a week! We are really doing well for now – Little Man is cutting TWO teeth (of course) and the tummy bug has passed. Roy had to have a tooth pulled yesterday – it broke and was causing him SERIOUS pain. And my dad is HOME!!! He has a broken rib, a broken bone in his hand and TONS of bruises & swelling still. But he is home and can sleep in his own chair.
Our stress level has been high. The girls have felt it – they have worried about Papa and have been sick and have watched Little Man & I be sick.
But there have been tremendous graces this week. It’s not all about the problems…
A friend of mine asked if she could make a meal for us this week – typically, I don’t accept the help. Yeah, it’s a problem for me. But I said “Yes.” We scheduled for the next day – NOT KNOWING I would be sick. And she brought us quart jars of yummy chicken & noodles (homemade), homemade applesauce (and hers is like CRACK for me – can’t stop eating it!!!), freshly baked bread, and green jello (Georgie’s FAVORITE!)
After several long days of not feeling well and upset tummies, it was the best, most delicious comfort food and we are so grateful. (Seriously – I don’t like sharing the applesauce!!!)
I have had the opportunity to take several naps and feel less zombie-like – and that has helped, too.
Now we just have to get back into our RHYTHM. Laundry was atrocious. Dishes were precocious. But today, again – I asked for help – and my two girls were T-H-R-I-L-L-E-D to help me.
While I washed dishes, Curly vacuumed the living room and Georgie swept the kitchen. Little Man chased both of them around in his walker – and 3 things got done at once. WOOHOO!!!
So – when I get cauught up on laundry & dishes – AND HOMEWORK – my next major project is working on chore cards for the girls. I am collecting reward certificates I can print – and we’re going to have a treasure chest of goodies for prizes. Not just an allowance – but instant rewards (cuz you know how Instant Gratification works, right???)
Pinterest has been utterly fantastic for me to play around on – I’m finding all kinds of GREAT things to help me – the chore cards, printable certificates, and a whole lot more. I have a post planned to share some of these awesome finds with you – cuz they are amazing!
So that’s where we are. A sink full of dishes. 4 piles of laundry to wash (with 4 already done!) Bellies full of good food. =) But mostly – just thankful and grateful and trying to enjoy the sacred moments that come…
