Midweek Moments

So we had to go back to the doctor AGAIN this week.  Curly was on an antibiotic for strep, but then got a good deep cough, so we went back and she started a NEW antibiotic, which seems to be helping.  She’s been taking allergy medicine every day – which does help – and we’ve been doing breathing treatments since she has asthma – but it’s been a LONG. THREE. WEEKS. Today she is at the zoo with her Mamaw and...

Two Month Checkup. And SHOTS!

Yep – Little Man had his official “Two Month” checkup – and he’s growing so well!  He gained 8 oz and grew 1/2 an inch in 6 days time (from his sick visit last week to his well visit this week!)  Whew!  He is definitely NOT having any growth delays anymore – and is developing as he should be. After a lot of hard work – breastfeeding, pumping, force-feeding – he is doing great.  And honestly he...

Do You Feel Old?

While watching the news this morning, the anchors shared the results of a recent study that indicated men and women feel the aging process very differently. Comparatively, men on average, begin to feel old at the age of 58 while women begin to feel old at the age of 29! 29! Why is that?  According to the study, men begin to feel old when their sex life is affected, while women feel old upon the sight of those first gray hairs. Considering the...

Ewomen: Angela Thomas

Angela Thomas, mother of 4 and author of several books, was a powerful speaker at this conference. Although I’d never heard her speak before, I have a good friend who has talked often about trying to get her here for a church event.  While Angela was speaking, I texted my friend and said “Dont’ give up trying to get her!”  She is amazing and speaks God’s truth in a way that is both uplifting and...

Ewomen: Lysa Terkeurst

Although I loved every single speaker (and I mean that), Lysa Terkeurst was one of the most impactful to me personally.  Every woman who spoke had a story of God’s redemption and grace – despite difficulties, tragedies and sometimes incomprehensible pain.  Lysa seemed to have a message tailored just for me… Lysa Terkeurst, of Proverbs 31 Ministries, is an amazing speaker.  She is a wife and mother of 5 children.  She spoke...

It really was Extraordinary!

The Extraordinary Women conference, “Embracing Powerful Peace” was beyond my anticipation!  I don’t even know where to start.  Everything was just so good and top notch and convicting and personal. My cousin, Jen, said she thinks the crowd was smaller than previous years, but it was a good size – kept things feeling intimate and personal. Friday night got us off to a really great start!  Chonda Pierce – oh my...

The Uncelebration of an Anniversary

Yesterday, was an anniversary for me.  One I do not celebrate.  But one I will forever remember. Yesterday, was the anniversary of my abortion. Most years, I acknowledge the day without much fanfare and just thank God for the journey He has brought me on.  This year – I’m a little more sensitive and touchy about it. While I had a wonderful day with the girls – and with several women from church at a Picnic in the Park...

Wanna Be a True Woman?

As women, we hear a lot of messages about what a WOMAN is, how she should act, how she should look, what makes her successful, what makes her valuable…   It’s hard to avoid them – they’re everywhere we look, everywhere we listen, everywhere we turn.  Do you believe those messages? It’s hard not to.  We want to know what it is that we have to DO to obtain membership into “the club” of Womanhood.  We...
