When Reality Sets In…

This weekend, Reality came knocking on our front door.  It’s not like we have lived in a fairy-tale world, but I will say I was surprised by just HOW differently I imagined our perspective to be from what it really has been. Reality Set in: When Chick #6, affectionately nicknamed “Gimpy” died.  We were rooting for the poor little thing, but underdeveloped legs prevented growth and the poor itty bitty thing couldn’t hang...

Motherhood’s Journey

We often talk about how quickly children grow and change.  We measure their height with pencil marks on a doorframe.  We chart their first years of life in a baby book or on calendars.  We note accomplishments and scrapbook their successes. But how often do we journal our own growth, effort, accomplishments, and successes as we journey through Motherhood? I’m not talking about BRAGGING about ourselves, so much as I am talking about...

This is a Mom’s World

For anyone who has followed me for more than a year, you’ve likely read stories of my family’s, ahem, restroom experiences…  It’s not that I like to brag.  It’s not that I EVER thought I would publish anything on the world-wide-web related to restrooms.  It’s not that I don’t have anything else to talk about.  Really, it just comes down to the fact that It’s a Mom’s World! Potty training...

Two Month Checkup. And SHOTS!

Yep – Little Man had his official “Two Month” checkup – and he’s growing so well!  He gained 8 oz and grew 1/2 an inch in 6 days time (from his sick visit last week to his well visit this week!)  Whew!  He is definitely NOT having any growth delays anymore – and is developing as he should be. After a lot of hard work – breastfeeding, pumping, force-feeding – he is doing great.  And honestly he...

My Need for Him

III John 1:4 – I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth. As my “normal” brain has returned since Little Man was born, I’ve slowly been made aware of my IMMENSE need for God in my life.  In every day.  In every hour.  In every moment. Listening to audio recordings, reading articles and blog posts, and in my daily Bible reading – I’ve been so convicted as deep roots of wilfulness in...

Motherhood is NO “Easy A”

Having experienced several very-challenging, difficult days as a mother in the past few weeks, I find myself up late – in a quiet house.  My husband is in bed after a long work day, and recuperating from the stomach flu.  My babies are tucked into bed, exhausted from playing and interacting with a stressed-out mommy. If I could trade any one talent or gift I’ve been blessed with – in exchange for the equal ability to mother...

All About Kindergarten

Oh it was a BIG day!  Curly’s first day of Kindergarten. We all walked her into her classroom, found her desk and she sat right down.  It was a bit hectic in the room, as you can imagine, and she just sat right down in a new class full of faces she doesn’t know yet.  I kissed her and said goodbye, and then Roy kissed her and said goodbye.  She turned around and smiled at us and watched us leave. What?  Is she okay?  Does she...

Do you have a “Difficult” Child?

I’ve been wondering how to approach this topic because it is not an easy subject to write about.  I read this article at ehomebody.com, and after reading my friend Amy’s post about her son Ian, thought I should write about my experience with a “difficult” child. Curly has always been our easy-going, happy child.  She slept all night long from about our 3rd night home from the hospital – she was easy to feed, easy...

Polished Cornerstones – Project Ruth

I decided, after looking through the Polished Cornerstones – Projects for Daughters on the Path to Womanhood from Doorposts, to start simply with my girls.  Georgie will be 3 in just a few weeks, and Curly will be 5 a few weeks later. I am brushing up on A Godly Woman, and specifically focusing on Ruth.  Monday I read them the story of Ruth from their Little Girls’ Bible and we talked about how Ruth was loyal.  We will also be...

My Continued Thoughts on Homeschooling

This is a modified repost of a previous popular post here at the Queen Mommys Cafe: Our girls, Curly & Georgie, are 4 and 2.  Curly just graduated from Christian PreK right and loved it.  Both girls are social butterflies (big surprise, right?) and both are very bright – when I can get their attention long enough, that is… I still feel – even after posting this some time ago, that as part of the Mothering experience for...
