We really have so much to be thankful for.
When I struggle to figure out what to make for supper for my family, I need to be thankful that I have a choice in what to feed my family and the resources to do so.
When I wash the same outfits every. single. week. (you know – the sparkly skirts and glittery shirts my girls wear as often as possible), I can be thankful that my children have more than one outfit that covers them and keeps them warm.
When the bills come in for utilities, I am thankful for the warmth and light and comfort they provide.
When I take my first few sips of a hot cup of coffee, I am thankful.
When I can watch an encouraging devotional video and spend time in God’s printed Word – I am so thankful.
I am also thankful for the protection and freedoms we do still have in our country. I can thank men like my father, my uncles, my grandfathers and men before them who answered the call of king and country and paid for it dearly with their health and even their lives.
I am thankful for the generosity of strangers who complimented our parenting at a pizza buffet last week where we took our children because they got great report cards. The same couple also footed our meal’s bill and on a day when I felt tired and weary, we found encouragement and blessing.
God is SO good to us even when we don’t deserve it. We have SO MUCH TO BE THANKFUL FOR – it is just a matter of perspective some days. May our eyes ever be focused on the Giver of all good things!
Oh give thanks to the Lord, call upon His name;
Make known His deeds among the peoples.
Sing to Him, sing praises to Him;
Speak of all His wonders.
Glory in His holy name;
Let the heart of those who seek the Lord be glad.
Seek the Lord and His strength;
Seek His face continually.
Remember His wonderful deeds which He has done,
His marvels and the judgments from His mouth,
